The Performer Series Followspots sets new benchmarks for
Followspot performance, light output and operator comfort.
More
Light, lighting designers around the world
are looking for brighter followspots to cut through
the higher light levels used on stage and in the
studio today.
The Performer Series range delivers 2–3 times as
much light as current 1.2kW / 2.5kW MSR market leaders.
This huge step up in performance is made possible by
Philips new Mini MSR arc technology, our developments
in ellipsoidal collection systems and a generous sized
lens design with all lens surfaces multi coated to reduce
light losses and ensure the best beam quality.
As a result of this research and development the Performer
Series range delivers a new level of efficiency (over
40%) providing comparable light output onstage to that
delivered by a 1.6kW Xenon Followspot!
Operators will love using these followspots which deliver
precision movement of the spot and controls, and thanks
to the Selecon heat management system the operator receives
little radiated heat with controls that remain cool to
the touch, even after many hours of continuous use.
Simple to use and set up ensuring its effective use by
inexperienced operators as well as industry professionals.
One integrated unit powered from
a domestic socket – with
built in electronic power supply (universal voltage 100 – 250V);
integrated 6-colour changer, supplied with tripod stand
and lamp.
The Performer Series range is the ideal solution for
rental and production companies and permanent installations
alike.
The two models immediately available

Features
- PRECISE, OPERATOR ADJUSTABLE PAN AND TILT allows
the operator to preset the amount of friction or
pressure required to move the followspot, friction
free for ‘bally ho’ free form movements
to restrained movement for precise control.
- STABLE BASE with our tripod based
stand and precision engineered yoke pan assembly.
- FULL LENGTH AND REAR GUIDE HANDLES to
suit almost all operating positions. Rear handle is
rubber foam covered.
- ELECTRONIC OUTPUT CONTROL from half
to full power, meeting the needs of mid size to very
large venues and outdoor arenas.
- BEAM ZOOM FROM ONE CONTROL, a quarter
turn to lock in position or free to glide to the required
beam angle. Reference scale for recording beam angle
settings.
- FOCUS FROM THE SAME ZOOM CONTROL,
from a crisp hard edge to a soft out of focus beam.
- SIX COLOUR FILTER CHANGER – integrated
as part of the followspot, self cancelling action,
with separate release. Individually removable frames
simplify loading of the colour filters while a ‘write
on’ label identifies the colour in each frame
for the operator. PLEASE USE a whiteboard marker or
similar, NOT an indelible marker pen. A ‘travel
lock’ secures the colour frames within the luminaire
body for travelling.
- COMPREHENSIVE CONTROL SUITE, clearly
labeled, reference scales and preset limits.

- CTO Filter (Colour
Temperature Orange) converts the 6,000K lamp colour
temperature to a tungsten balance. This filter
can be changed by the operator to any other dichroic
colour glass filter 90mm / 3 1/2" diameter)
and....
- DIFFUSION FROST softens
the beam edge allowing it to blend into the rest
of the stage lighting. This frost can be changed
by the operator to other glass diffusion (90mm /
3 1/2" diameter).
- IRIS – 24
leaf iris provides a visually even circular beam
from the smallest to widest. The maximum iris opening
can be preset using the adjustable scale locks. The
iris leaves are protected from prolonged heat exposure
by a heat shield which follows behind the iris mask
action.
- CUTTERS – shutters
shaping the two vertical and horizontal axis of the
beam.
- PATTERN HOLDER COVER SLOT for mounting
of pattern (B-size) holder accessory.
- DOWSER, or mechanical dimmer dims
the light beam to required output. The dimming action
allows for very sensitive and smooth fade at low levels.
Maximum output level can be preset using the adjustable
scale lock.
- PEAK / FLAT BEAM DISTRIBUTION. The
Performer Series is the only followspot with an easy
to use peak / flat beam adjustment. A peak beam with
frost diffusion blends into the stage lighting scene
while the flat hard focus beam provides the traditional
high contrast followspot beam.
Easy & safe Maintenance
Replacing the lamp is via a drop down hinged lamp assembly.
The mains power cable can be stored inside the luminaire
body during transportation.
Body panels hinge open to provide quick and safe access
for cleaning, changing the dichroic filter/ diffusion
frost and other maintenance.

The total lamp/reflector/
power supply assembly slides out the rear of the luminaire.

TRADESHOW NEWS
From
the ENTECH Tradeshow wrap-up by Andy Ciddor
in the March 2006 issue of Lighting & Sound
International.
"Developed
around a 1200/1400W short arc lamp, a new
optical system, a smooth iris, and a completely
re-engineered yoke and spigot system, these
substantial luminaires are designed for easy
touring.
Despite their use of new light sources and
contemporary materials, these spots nevertheless
manage to evoke the stability and smoothness
of mechanical operation last seen in such
ancient behemoths as the Strand Electric
Sunspot". |
