Pacific MSR

Delivering unmatched performance from any of the Pacific range, the MSR power system comprises the universal electronic flicker-free power supply and a choice of lamp modules with integral ignitor and optional extension cable from head to power supply (5m/16 1/2ft).

This 5600K light source in the Pacific, fitted with MSR Hot Restrike module and dowser, delivers high light output for entertainment lighting. The standard 575W MSR/2 and 575W MSD lamps provide the solution for accurate long throw architectural lighting applications.

In short, when combined with a 575W MSR light source the Pacific offers lighting designers a powerful tool providing variable beam angles, beam shaping, low glare, projection and movement.

The power of the Pacific MSR allows projection over distances previously unobtainable with a standard profile.

The Pacific MSR can be ordered as a complete luminaire or the lamp module can be ordered separately and fitted to existing Pacific fittings.3_year_warranty.gif

Important note: The electronic power supply for Pacific MSRs must NOT be powered from a dimmer output, a non-dim circuit is required.

Should you wish to dim your MSR luminaires you will need the Selecon Pacific Dowser which has been specifically designed for this purpose.

Features
  • IDEAL for dramatic highlights and pattern projections on stage or the studio, and for architectural lighting.
  • LARGE RANGE OF BEAM ANGLES with choice of 5.5°-13°, 12°-28°, 14°-35°, 23°-50° and 45°-75° Zoomspots and 5°HE, 20°, 30°, 40°, 50° and 90° Fixed Beams.
  • HEAT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM delivers cooler, 'whiter' beam, cool operating controls even after hours of use and a cooler gate allowing the use of glass and dichroic patterns.
  • BASE DOWN LAMP positioned axially in reflector optimises light collection while ensuring a low cost of ownership through reduced maintenance.
  • TWO PATTERN MOUNTING SLOTS, 360° rotatable lens barrel, large rear grab handle, accessory and safety anchor points are only some of the many operational features of the range.
  • SAFE to use, cool operating controls; automatic disconnection of the mains power supply before relamping. CE marked.
  • ELECTRONIC POWER SUPPLY available in a portable housing that can be separately mounted for permanent installations.

Power Supply

The electronic power supply complies with EN60922 A1:1992 and is TUV certified.

ballast_box_with_2_extrusions.JPG

UL listing: the EVG5 (part #: 321841000) and the ignitor HZG5-25 (part #: 320581000) are tested in accordance with UL1950 clause 2.9 and CSA22.2-950.

Ignitor distances: though the power supply can be mounted far away from the lamp, the ignitor must be within 2m/6ft of the lamp.

The power supply box does not necessarily have to be mounted on a luminaire and in the case of a weather-proof enclosure it is recommended that the box be installed in the coolest part of the enclosure.

Ideally the internal components of the electronic power supply box should remain below 80°C.

Colour Media

The use of standard colour media in the Pacific MSR is not possible. The heat of the beam is cool but the variable focus of the zoomspot may result in a secondary focal point at the colour runners. It is the focus point of the intense energy produced by the 575 watt MSR lamp that prohibits the use of standard colour media at certain beam angles, coloured or dichroic glass filters are recommended.

When used with the Pacific Dowser accessory acceptable life of plastic colour filters is achieved.

Further technical information, physical and photometric data and order codes are detailed on the Pacific MSR Specification Sheets.

FISHER & EISENHAUER SELECT SELECON MSRS AND DOWSERS

Chita Rivera: The Dancer’s Life” opened on Broadway on the 11th December, 2005; a musical stage show honoring a woman who throughout her 50-year career has been described as a “true Broadway star” and “a force of nature”.

This magical tour offers its audience a rare look into a time when great musical numbers in the theater were born, as related and performed by the woman for whom they were created celebrating some of her most stunning and legendary Broadway performances – from West Side Story to Chicago to Kiss of the Spider Woman.

Paramount in any lighting design that involves dance is the side / boom lighting that enhances the audience’s ability to see the intricate steps and body movements that a dancer is performing. For Chita and her cast of ten this challenge fell into the hands of renowned lighting designers Jules Fisher and Peggy Eisenhauer who recognised that the small Selecon wide-angle Pacific zoomspots were the solution to delivering the best high output with the control required for low sidelight.

"The (7) Pacific 23º-50º MSR 575-HR Zoomspots fitted with Pacific Dowsers worked perfectly as low sidelights for Chita Rivera, The Dancer’s Life, currently performing at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre on Broadway.

A unit located in each wing provided the modelling light for the dancer’s legs and torso which is so valuable to dance. It gave us the power of an automated fixture, without the bulk, allowing us to mount it close to the floor. The wide zoom range allowed us to tailor the beam spread for each shot.

It made a great contribution to our show
."

When the Royal National Theatre, London wanted to project their name on their iconic South Bank home they turned to the Selecon Pacific range using the 575W MSR light source.

Utilising a Pacific 23-50 MSR Zoomspot the gobo projection is precise and powerful enough to cut through the washlights on the south side of the theatre in dramatic style.

Housed in a simple custom enclosure this project joins the many others around the world where Pacific luminaires are used for external lighting projects.

These include the over 100 Pacifics lighting up major landmarks in Paris, several of the bridges across the Seine and the Lion de Belfort statue; the Hong Kong city light up and many others demonstrating the superior optical performance, versatility and low cost of ownership intrinsic to the design of the Pacific range.
